I am Alive!
Hi All! I just want you all to know that I AM alive, LOL!! My lame excuse is that I have not been in a blogging mood. Actually, I am worried that maybe my blogging mojo might have left me forever...
But enought of that. I have been reading the book Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. For those of you not familiar with this book, it is what the first series of the new HBO show Game of Thrones is based on. My husband started watching the TV series. I watched a few bits and pieces, but not much. Then, I discovered the TV show was based on a book. Hmmmm. I thought, maybe I'll read the book and then watch the show. So that is exactly what happened. That is where I have been for the last 10 days, reading this very long book. I just finished it. I am still digesting it. I am not entirely certain how I feel about it. More thoughts to come later...
Get this, my husband who never reads, watched the show and then went and bought book two A Clash of Kings because he didn't want to wait for next year when the second series comes out again on TV. He is about 300 pages into it and is begging me to start the second one so we can discuss it. How cool is that? My husband NEVER reads and I am totally going to take advantage of this!!!

That's great that your husband is getting into this series. How cool that he's encouraging you to read so he can talk about the book with you! LOL
May I say very, very, very fine picture to go with the post. I've been LOVING this series too and totally plan on buying/reading the books too before next season. Until then, there is Conan. Hey, hey, hey
These are some of my favorite books and my husband's too. We are currently having a Rock Paper Scissors tournament to see who gets first crack at The Dance of Dragons (July 12th!!!). Other great "couples can both read them" books are the Harry Dresden books by Jim Butcher.
My hubby loves that show too. I don't think he would EVER pick up the book though. lol Good for your husband for branching out. As I always say you just need to find the kind of books that you love and reading would be fun!
Hopefully your mojo will come back soon! :)
LOL, you should take advantage of it then!! Will you be sharing the same copy though? that can be a bit hard...
Well as long as your reading mojo doesn't desert you, then you're good :)
Oh no, Jill! I hope your blogging funk is just a phase... even if it takes a while to find your groove again, DON'T LEAVE US!
I was considering reading George R.R. Martin's series, but wasn't sure. Then this past weekend I learned that one of my closest friends and her husband have been fans of this series for a long time. It kind of put the stamp of approval on it, so I'm hoping to read it this year too.
I think it's FANTASTIC that your husband found something to read that he's passionate about. .. and it's VERY sweet that he wants you to read with him so you can discuss it. I love that.
Jill, it's September and I'm posting here because well... we miss you!
Hope your blogging funk is over soon and that is well. :)
Hope all is well with you and your family. I still check back a few times a week because I would hate to miss your return. Whatever you decide to do in the future about your blog, know that the posts you wrote in the past were like little gifts to fellow readers. Can't help but have the wish that you'd decide to return to blogging one day.
I bought the first book after watching the series but haven't got round to reading it yet.
