Loot & Links

First up are the books I bought new. I have had my eye on a couple of releases I was looking forward to for January. I purchased the new Megan Hart. Can I just say the cover for Switch is scrum-diddily-umptious? Megan Hart has some mighty fine book covers, lucky gal!

Susan Crandall is another one of those authors who I love but never read. I thought I'd change that and get her latest romantic suspense release. Although, Jane from Dear Author reviewed it and had few issues with it. I'll be curious to see how my feelings match up with Jane's.

I had reserved popular hardcover books at my library a while back and finally my name was at the top of the wait list for Deep Kiss of Winter, the duology featuring Kresley Cole and Gena Showalter. Other books I didn't have to wait for were Don't Tempt me by Loretta Chase and A Duke of Her Own by Eloisa James. Sarah of Monkeybear Reviews had written a lovely review of A Duke of Her Own and had it listed as one of her favorite reads for 2009.

Kristi J from Ramblings On Romance just recently posted a review of Cash, an Out of Print (OOP) western which she enthusiastically pimped. Upon reading her review (which was Saturday morning), and finding out that Cash was the sixth book of the Rock Creek series and all the books are fabulous and are all OOP - I immediately tried to see if I could locate the books. So off to my local used book store I went to see if they had any. Sadly, they did not.

On the bright side, I was able to pick up a few other books that managed to catch my eye. Two were old Jo Goodman books and the third was Tears of the Moon by Nora Roberts which Ames reviewed recently. Her review was fresh in my mind and so I had to get the book.

I haven't bought any January releases yet - which means I still need to pick up the Megan Hart.

I adore the entire Rock Creek Six series - having read and devoured them pre-blogging days. I've been nagging Kristie for a while to read them - and am glad she finally is - although dang I can't believe she started with the last book! LOL

Wendy - Megan Hart is one of those authors who I rush out to get their new releases.

I am so glad I found out about the Rock Creek series. Although, major bummer on not being able to find all of them. I was able to get Reese and Rico from pbs. The others I am on a wait list for and my library doesn't have any of them. That totally cracks me up about Kristi starting with book 6! Gotta love it!

If you are looking for any out-of-print books, you might get lucky on PaperBackSwap. I have been using the service for about 3 years or so now and really love it. The whole key to getting the most out of PBS is the Wish List. You can place up to 200 books on a wish list - when they are posted, you get them if you are first in line for the book.

I hope you enjoy all the books :D You got some good ones in there.

Doesn't it suck when you go to the UBS for a specific book and they don't have it?

And out of curiosity... you did not walk out of the UBS with any other books?

Ooooohhh - two Goodman's - SCORE!! And as Reese is the first in the series - unless you are the kind of reader who has to have them first - you can get started on this series. Although you run the risk of the frustration I'm feeling at the moment - heh, heh, heh.

Megan Hart is surely blessed with her yummy covers. Yum!

Glad you found Tears of the Moon, too bad about the Rock Creek books.

Sam - I was able to get two of the books on Paperbackswap and I am on the wait list for the others. I love that site!

Nath - LOL, I only bought 3 books. I have very good self control :) Believe me, I was in heaven looking through all the Goodman books.

Kristie - Well I really do like to read a series in order. But I have a lot of other books to keep me occupied until I find the others.

Ames - I think my library had Tears of the Moon, but I figured I would go ahead and buy it. Who knows, it might become a favorite. Yeah, too bad about the Rock Creek books.

Oh my, you got some great books, Jill! I had such a great time reading the Chase last year. I loved Villiers as a character, so I was happy to see him get his HEA, hope you enjoy it. AND, Tears of the Moon is also a favorite--enjoy your great finds!

Hilcia - I just finished reading A Duke of her Own and was blown away by it! I loved Villiers! It was my first book by Eloisa James, and now I will have to go back and read all the other books in this series. Do you have a favorite by her?

Jill, Eloisa James is one of those inconsistent authors for me. But I can tell you that I enjoyed her Essex Sisters series (some books more than others). It has only 4 books: Much Ado About You, Kiss Me, Annabel, The Taming of the Duke & Pleasure for Pleasure.

I can't wait to read what you think of this series. :)
