January Reading Summary

January was a good reading month for me. Once I let go of any goals, and therefore any pressure, progress just flowed like honey. I read a nice mixture of books. I think the biggest and best surprise was A Duke of Her Own by Eloisa James. It was just an amazing book and it has enticed me to read more books by that author.

I did have a couple of disappointments by two authors I normally enjoy, Untouchable by Kresley Cole and Bed of Roses by Nora Roberts. I do have a review planned for Bed of Roses, so be on the look out for that.

Also, I have included the two short Sookie stories in my summary, but I don't plan on reviewing them. They are so short. One of them was only 19 pages. I didn't even feel like I could give them a grade because of their length.

1. Blue Diablo, Aguirre (Urban Fantasy) Rating: B+
2. Breathless, Guhrke (Historical) Rating: B
3. Switch, Hart (Erotic) Rating: B+
4. Untouchable, Cole (Paranormal) Rating: C+
5. Shattered, Johnston (Contemporary) Rating: B
6. A Duke of Her Own, James (Historical) Rating: A-
7. Fault Line, Eisler (Suspense) Rating: B+
8. Dead to the World, Harris (Urban Fantasy) Rating: B
9. Simon Says, Foster (Contemporary) Rating: C+
10. Lessons in French, Kinsale (Historical) Rating: B+
11. Bed of Roses, Roberts (Contemporary) Rating: C+
12. "Fairy Dust", Harris (Urban Fantasy) Rating: NR
13. Air Time, Ryan (Mystery) Rating: B
14. Ravishing in Red, Hunter (Historical) Rating: B+
15. "One Word Answer", Harris (Urban Fantasy) Rating: NR

Great start to your year, Jill!

Bed of Roses was a disappointment for me also, now I don't feel so lonely, lol! I'll look forward to your review. I'm also looking forward to your review of Ravishing in Red by Hunter. :)

I'm still waiting for my copy of Lessons in French to arrive. :(

Nath - I was just blown away by A Duke of her Own. I might not have enjoyed it as much as I did, had I read other books by her though. What didn't you like about it? Are you going to review it? Also, what books by Eloisa James would you recommend?

Lessons of French was good. It wasn't nearly as dark as some of her books can be. I will be posting my review tomorrow.

Hilcia - Ack! You know when you have high expectations for a book, there is alot more room for let down. Yes, it's always nice to know you are no alone in your opinions. I hope you enjoy Lessons in French when you read it!

Actually, I've only read 2 other books in this series. Ames said that I should read the whole series to really get Villiers, but although I own them, I'm not really interested.

I don't think I'm going to review it, but I did a mini-review in my monthly list. It's up now.

Sounds like you had a pretty good month! And we were quite close in the number of books read - you beat me by one. The only one we have in common though is Ravishing in Red - and looks like we both enjoyed it.

Nath - Okay, I'll check out your mini review.

Ames - Yes, do get to Switch when you get a chance!

Kristie - Well, techinically two of the books I listed were really like chapters not books. I can't wait for Provocative in Pearls by Hunter. My interest is definitely peaked after Ravishing in Red.
